As you are aware, concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) have been circulating in recent weeks. We want to let you know that the health and safety of our members and guests is our priority at Uwharrie Community Church. Our Pastor and Lead Team are closely monitoring the situation, and we will adhere to any recommendations made by the CDC and local health and government officials regarding public gatherings. This is a dynamic situation that is changing every day. Here are some questions we can address at this time. As information develops, we will update this page with answers to commonly asked questions.
Is UCC gathering for services this Sunday?
We have decided to move all scheduled UCC events online until further notice in order to minimize the risk of illness and protect those who are entrusted to us. This includes Sunday worship services, Wednesday Night Community and Celebrate Recovery. Our new sermons are posted to our Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Why have services been canceled?
We have not made this decision lightly, but we believe it is the wisest course of action at this time. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and adhere to the recommendations of the CDC and local health officials. When we decide it is safe to resume our services and other events, we will communicate that to you. For the latest information on COVID-19, visit the CDC’s website. We will be updating this page with the latest updates regarding TVC.
How should I respond to COVID-19?
Though situations like these can stir up fear and anxiety, God is sovereign over all things, and our ultimate hope is found in Jesus. Although we won’t be gathering for services and events, we encourage you to stay connected to the church body through calls, texts, and online engagement. Pray for those affected by this virus as we wait for Christ to return and bring about a day without sickness, suffering, and death.
To minimize the risk of illness, here are a few practical things you can do to love your neighbor:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
